“I was on a mission trip with my bother-in-law in Embu, Kenya visiting Pastor William Kamau in the PEFA churches of eastern Africa and it was there were I saw God’s glory in it’s purest form.
I woke up early one morning, which is unusual for me and I could not go back to sleep. So I took a walk outside of the farmhouse we were staying in and I saw Pastor Kamau. We walked around his small farm and he showed me how everything that he needed to live was within the stone walls of his farm. He had a cow which he fed corn to produce milk for his family. He would also sell the milk to other neighbors who didn’t have a cow for money to by clothes in the market and occasionally meat and fish for his family. He said the cow’s manure would be used to fertilize his garden where he grew all the vegetables for his family and feed to cow. We continued our walk on his land and as we did he started pulling stuff out of the ground. I didn’t think much of it but all the stuff he collected, as we returned to the house, he used to make breakfast for us that morning. Amazing!
In the poorest villages I witnessed God being exalted in all aspects of life. Even though the conditions were miserable compared to the industrialized world this did not seem to bother the people in these villages. The present of the Holy Spirit is alive in eastern Africa, from workers on the farms and rice paddies, to visiting homes, worshiping in churches, and general fellowship with peoples that we happened by along side the road or in the market. Everyone was smiling! It was there that I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and savior. Two days after I returned from Africa was my first day at Avivamento da Fe”. (Pb. Mitchell Garcia, USA).
